The Big Bang Theory finale episode will be aired tonight in India. The CBS sitcom that has had its successful run over 12 seasons has finally come to a close.
While the finale episode was aired last night in the US, fans across social media have been gushing over the end of the Big Bang era that had been celebrating quirky friendship between its lead characters since 2007.
Without giving any spoilers, here is some insight into the The Big Bang Theory finale.
Penny and Leonard’s family planning
In the final season, Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) were mostly seen debating having children. While Leonard was mostly in favour, Penny was not so much inclined. In a major twist in the finale, this debate is put to rest and something else is revealed.
On bringing such a change in the finale episode, co-creator of the show Chuck Lorre told USA Today: “Just felt like a natural progression. When we leave these characters and say goodbye to them, we know their life is continuing and expanding. And that just felt right, that life was expanding.”
The Nobel Prize
The final season was all about the Nobel, and the finale episode will put an end to the speculation. The makers have always said Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy are brilliant minds in science, but will they be bestowed the biggest honour before the show comes to a final close?
Will Sheldon mature finally?
It is in fact only in the finale that Sheldon’s character comes to terms with the finality of maturation as a person. From being a one-dimensional, unsympathetic character to becoming what he does over the course of 12 years, the understanding of the gruesome process and journey only hits him in the finale.
Will the out-of-order elevator get a life?
Having eagerly waited all these years to know what happens to the yellow-taped elevator that was always out of order, the audience will finally see some action on this front.
Neil Michael surprise
The next generation of the Wolowitz family has been heard earlier via the voice of Pamela Adlon of Better Things fame. But, Halley and her younger brother, Neil Michael also give a fun Easter egg kind surprise for the first time on the show.
139.5 hours: The why of it
When Leonard decides to take control of the apartment once shared with Sheldon, his effort in moving the elaborate DNA model causes it to disintegrate as he tries to shift it. Later, he and Sheldon spend 139.5 hours to reconstruct it. This figure specifically is important, as the finale reveals why this specific number reference was made.
